Koda really, really, really wanted to go for a drive today. Kelly and I thought it was a great idea too.
Even though the wind was bitterly cold, the day was clear and sunny.
So off we drove to one of our favorite spots, Boulevard Park on Bellingham Bay.
The water was an icy azure blue with wind-whipped whitecaps
but that didn't deter these hardy sailors!
Sun sparkled water with Lummi Island in the distance. Lummi Island is named for a local native tribe. It's just a short ferry ride from here- the most accessible of the San Juan Islands to our area.
There is a locally owned coffee shop at Boulevard Park called Woods. You can't go to the Boulevard without stopping for a mocha or a hot chocolate. I don't know what kind of whipping cream they use; but it is soooo tasty. So I always ask for extra whipping cream on my hot cocoa. Then I carefully remove
the lid and slurp the whipping cream off the top. I'm thinking about ordering a cup of whipping cream with a little hot cocoa on top. Oh, and Koda asked me to tell you about their doggy treats...she says they're the best.
Outside of Woods, I spotted something hopeful. A cherry tree in bloom! That just made my day.

That is CRAZY that the cherry tree is already in bloom! It looked like a beautiful day to get outside... I'm here in Toronto and we had a bit of a heat wave when I came, it was actually 58 degrees on Friday after being in the low 20's as the high. It's supposed to get colder again though.
