To Everything There Is A Season

Tomatoes
Still-life

We had our first frost the other night. Time to pick the rest of the tomatoes and bring them inside to ripen. Time for sipping tea and knitting hats, wearing warm, fuzzy socks and wrapping up on the sofa in a flannel quilt with a good book.

To everything there is a season,

a time for every purpose under the sun.

A time to be born and a time to die;

a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
a time to kill and a time to heal ...

a time to weep and a time to laugh;

a time to mourn and a time to dance ...

a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing;

a time to lose and a time to seek;

a time to rend and a time to sew;

a time to keep silent and a time to speak;

a time to love and a time to hate;

a time for war and a time for peace.

ecclesiastes 3:1-8

  1. What a lovely still life!

    Interesting... we haven't had a hard frost yet either. Although the nights are now dipping to very near freezing point. Flowers are still blooming in the garden, so it's a real treat to catch glimpses of summer sights mixed with the autumnal colours!

  2. It's hard to believe that I still have impatiens in the middle of October! We've just "kissed" 32 1/2 degrees a couple of time now and the impatiens are still going strong!

  4. There are times it helps to know that a certain thing is only for a season ... there are also tinmes it causes one to make the most of the time. I was also reminded of another verse in eccl. tonight. ... "He has made all things beautiful in His time."
