Beach
Cool wind,
September sun.
Seagulls cry,
children squeal
Labrador retriever barks.
Perch on a piece of driftwood,
Close your eyes...
breathe
Then open them again...
breathe.
Sand grits between your toes,
wild hair whips your face
water sparkles make you squint.
close your eyes...
breathe.
Then open them again...
breathe.
Tidepools,
bashful crabs
mussels wearing pointy hats.
Silvery minnows dart about
slimy kelp
and barnacles.
It's all alive,
and so are you.
close your eyes...
breathe.
Then open them again...
breathe.

Thank you. This poem has had a calming effect on me on this first day back to school. Such beautiful imagery.
...enjoying my deep breathing as I see myself there through your poetry.....
Lovely...
