Welcome friends...thanks for coming by. We're seeking beauty in all of creation... in our faith and our families; our art and our music; our crafts and kitchens, and even in our own backyard. We'll share a poem or a recipe, a picture or a memory; maybe a dream of how we wish our life could be. And though we acknowledge that the world can be harsh, we're keeping it pleasant in our little corner; endeavoring to keep the words from the Book of all Books: ...Whatsoever things are lovely; think on these things.

I so enjoy hearing from you...so leave me a comment; it'll make my day!

Oh Sweet Pea!

My friend Adelia brought me a pretty bunch of posies...sweet peas!  Started me thinkin' about the song 'Sweet Pea'. Which in turn got me thinkin' about my first crush, about school dances-sitting on the bleachers praying that he'd ask me to dance...about him carrying my books to class and holding hands. Sweet, unspoiled times. I'm afraid that today's sex-crazed society has spoiled 'first loves' for our children. Everything is so explicit; from the movies, to the music, to the language and dress. Romance is lost to this age...at least to most. Ah well, I've put together a few tunes from those days...so turn up your speakers, close your eyes, and think back to your very first infatuation! (Sorry, I removed the music when I remodeled my sight. You can go to Pandora.com and hear those old tunes though, it's a very cool site!)

Ellen and Chick: Glad you're gonna have a crop of sweet peas, Ellen. I haven't successfully grown them for 20 years; and I try every year.
Chick: My friend grew them at a church garden plot. That and regular peas. It must be a very sunny lot. I think that's what it takes to get sweet peas around here. Please, don't burn your chickens feet under the bed. They won't like it.

I remember it well. This generation has no idea what they are missing out on...what's the rush. Oh sweet pea, c'mon and dance with me...c'mon c'mon c'mon and dance with me. Sweet song for even sweeter times!
